Black-Owned Everything

Black History Month is here and I am elated to present to you the Black-owned brands I have both recently discovered and love. It’s no secret that Black-owned brands don’t get as much exposure or celebration as others and so as a proud Black woman it is not only my honor but my great joy to purchase, support, and make others privy to these amazing items. First up, Grass Fields.

Every dress I have purchased from this brand has been a dream and this beauty is no exception. I’ve got my eye on this smiliar style, as well as this stunner (Once I get a better pair of shapewear…the pandemic was not kind to my waistline.) On to bags!

Social media never lets me down when it comes to discovering new items to adore so when a breathtaking bag from Brandon Blackwood graced my feed I knew I needed to have it in hand. Word to the side, subscribe to the website and turn on notifications on Instagram because these bags sell out FAST! Next up, Kaela Kay

I love anything with a little bit of oomph and this top from Kaela Kay gives me just what I need. I’m pretty sure this dress will be in my closet soon along with these pants. Now it’s time for watches. (You get it?…time…time for…ok Shay move on.)

Fun fact, I love a good timepiece, but admittedly I don’t own as many a I would like due to either not having enough holes for my wrist or having to remove far too many links. Additionally, timepeices are so personal and more often than not I can’t seem to find watches that speak to me personally. SPGBK (short for “Springbreak”) watches check all of my boxes. Colors, culture, and a plethora of band choices make these unisex watches something I plan on collecting. Lawrence is a leather band kind of man and I love unique, innovative bands like this silicone one. to top it all off, look at how many hole options are on the bands of these watches! It’s as if they knew the sound of my silent tiny wrist tears and said, “Weep no more.” Be sure to sign up for their mailing list and social media for updates because their items sell out fast and are well worth the wait!

And there you have it! These are just a handful of amazing Black-owned brands out there. I hope you will go to these sites, shop these brands, and tell others about them because they are just as worthy of your money and love as any other brand. Happy Black History Month everyone.
