ModCloth & The Covet-worthy Coat

The fall season is the beginning of coat season and coming from Florida, coats are as out of place as a person who says they don’t like Whitney Houston in my presence. (It…it’s just futile and wrong.) Last fall’s humble collection of coats consisted of…ugh I’ll just say it…the most unflattering, boring, and solely functional pieces in my entire wardrobe, and I vowed that next year this would not be the case. One thing I will say about Floridian fashion as opposed to the fashion one receives all with all 4 seasons is that one season means less stress on your budget. Four seasons mean four distinct weather functions to consider in one’s wardrobe and fall had once again brought me to coat season.

How does one who adores items that constantly teeter the tightrope of dainty and daring, elegant and edgy, feminine, and functional find a coat? Endless scrolling and well-intended suggestions lead me to a dead-end, but while sipping a cup of tea it dawned on me to try ModCloth and my dream coat was found! Is it a dress? Is it a coat? Is it both? I didn’t care-it was everything. Lawrence chuckled to himself as I squealed and twirled enchanted by every darling detail. “The world should know about this. This is the coat of coats!” I said just before accidentally slipping a hand into one of the pockets and squealing once more with pleasant surprise. (you know it’s almost euphoric when you discover your new favorite piece has pockets) I shouldn’t have been surprised that once again Modcloth has created yet another piece that spoke to me in a special way. Not a bad first coat to kick off this season.

Aside from this covet-worthy coat, Modcloth is a one-stop-shop for everyone. The website is size-inclusive and on top of that their vintage-inspired looks are perfect for the present-day gal who loves to give a nod to former fashion. I’ve got my eye on this fun cardigan, this gem of a jacket, this floral fantasy, and this over the top outerwear. So what’s the message here? When it comes to our coats we don’t have to sacrifice fabulous fashion for function. We simply have to seek out the sites that allow us to be…us.
